What does K-mobile do?
Using most any web capable devices, K-mobile allows you to login to your Kaseya server and view (and close) alarms, tickets, servers that are offline and machine inventory information. More filters and features are expected in the near future.
What devices does K-mobile support?
K-mobile has been designed using standard AJAX and web services architecture. K-mobile was originally written for the iPhone. We have tested K-mobile on the iPhone, Blackberry and various Windows Mobile devices.
Do I have to install anything?
No. K-mobile is a hosted solution. By entering in the web address of your Kaseya server, we query your information remotely and send to your device. We do require that your Kaseya server is accessible from the Internet, has Kaseya 2008 loaded and the “Enable VSA API Web Service” checkbox is checked under the system > configure screen.
Is K-mobile safe?
Yes. In order to authenticate to your server, we use the same encryption algorithms that Kaseya uses.
Will I be able to monitor a mobile device with K-mobile?
No. K-mobile is not an agent. K-mobile is a web interface into the Kaseya platform.
What are known K-mobile limitations/problems?
As of now, the Kaseya API only allows querying of all alarms and tickets regardless of status. As you can imagine, this list is rather lengthy and does take time to generate. We are working with Kaseya to allow us parameters on the web service to only return open alarms and tickets. K-mobile is currently limited to 20 tickets and alarms for testing purposes.Closing of an open ticket and alarm does work however.
The “Servers Offline” feature does take some time to generate. Again, hopefully this will eventually be remedied with updates to the Kaseya API.
K-mobile authentication is limited to username and password. Active Directory Domain authentication is not available at this time.
