Please DON'T Rob Me

Take a moment to look at PleaseRobMe.com.  This website’s title might seem silly, but its content is anything but.  Nowadays, people often feel compelled to post what they’re doing and where they are on their Facebook and Twitter statuses.

You may think your posts are innocent, but when you let 300 of your “friends” know where you are, you’re also telling them where you’re not (i.e. your empty home that is just waiting to be robbed, especially if your home address is listed in your profile).   Keep in mind that the information you have listed publicly on Facebook is indexed and searchable in Google.

We will be discussing safety and other topics related to social networking in this Thursday’s webinar.  I can assure you that you don’t want to miss it!  Register here.

Thank you to Nexxtep developer Mike Adkins for telling me about PleaseRobMe.com.
